Come On Summer Hurry Up!!!!

The coloured stripes of this paper remind me of Neapolitan ice cream, my favourite. I can never make up my mind what flavour to have and this saves all the decision making. Three in one, yumm, yumm, yumm.

For this card I have used design papers from Polka Doodles and one of the digi images from their Pretty Sweet CD. This gorgeous little girl has been coloured using a selection of Pro and Flex Markers. I don't seem to be able to make a card without using at least one Spellbinder die, so here I added some flowers and leaves and highlighted with a matching pink ink.

Winter Blues

I have been feeling a bit blue myself this week as our heating has decided to pack up and the weather is not yet warm enough to go without it. I hate putting on loads of layers, it really slows down the crafting and I tend to knock all the piles of stash I have around me all over the floor. Anyway in amongst the chaos I did manage to make this card.

I've used the Papermania Birdsong 6x6 paper pad, Spellbinders label 18 to stamp the sentiment on and one of the Fancy Tags to create the scroll border, then decorated with a few pearls.

Quick & Simple Card

This card was quick to put together once I found the papers for the chipboard image. I have kept this set of chipboard in my stash for ages as I am mad on camper vans, but thought I should really use it and this seemed like a good time.

The letters are chipboard, I bought them ages ago, put them away without opening them. To my surprise they are coated with felt and all fluffy "bonus" so they were easy to colour with my Promarkers to match in with the papers.

What An Exciting Start To The Week!!!

I managed to get to the trade show at the NEC on Monday and meet lots and lots of lovely people, especially Sue Wilson, Hels Sheridan and Ali Reeve demonstrating all their new products that will be coming our way very soon. Others I only managed to get a glimpse of such as the great Tim Holtz, but still nice to see everyone in the flesh as it were. By the way Sues card samples are to die for.

I came away on a real high and inspired to get going with some projects that have been waiting to be finished and to start some new ones, also have had some inspiration to get going with some of my own products that have been waiting in the wings for a long time too.

My personal life has been very mad for the last three years and I think it may be coming to a more stable time (fingers crossed and everything else), our son and his fiance, who have been living with us for the last few months are about to move into their own home and have a baby. Yes we are about to be grandparents, although we said we were to young to be granny and grampy yet, we are really loving the idea and getting so excited. This has meant that we will have a spare room, but not for long as this will be mine all mine. This will enable me to get going with all these ideas and projects. I will try and put up photos of the transformation.

The days have gone by so quickly this week, but I have managed to make a couple of challenge cards.

Primarily this card was for the Polka Doodles Challenge. This week was a Recipe of 1 x image, 2 x papers, 3 x embellishments, but I have entered it into the following others:

This year is going to be a year of celebration or that's what they say, although we have got a couple of big events coming up. It we be a year of immersing ourselves in everything that is British. Red, white and blue, cups of tea and big red buses. I am so glad I like the colours or by the end of the year I could go quite mad.

Talking of big red buses, here's a card for you. They say that you can wait for ages for a bus and all of a sudden three turn up, that's the theme for this card, hope you like it.

Getting Back Into The Challenge Mode

After a week of looking after hubby with his bad back I'm trying to get back into making my challenge cards. Finding my mojo can sometimes be difficult after a little break, but this time I am very pleased with the results.

While out of it for a while I did manage to sit and do some colouring and get a stash of images ready for cards so this really helped when it came to putting them together. I think I will do this again as that was probably the answer to the loss of my mojo sometimes, I wasn't starting from scratch.

Happy New Year!

Well I'm finally back to it after the break and I hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday season and looking forward to a great 2012, I know I am. Here's to lots of new crafty projects and trying to finish some that have been put to one side for a while.

I did however start two new projects over the holidays. The first was out of necessity and the second was just because I wanted to have a go. Both are messy projects but I had a ball getting all inky and gluey.

Project No 1

For sometime now I have, at the end of a project just whooshed all my little flowers and die-cut left overs into an old take-away tub and shoved them onto a shelf out the way, but I wanted something that looked more me and in keeping with what I do, so I have set about to change all my containers (big project I know, but you have to have a go). I made a little drawer easel card a while back with chocolates in and that's what gave me the idea.

I have used torn pages from an old novel and decoupaged them to the outside, when dry I used my distress inks and aged the paper. A screw head brad was used for a handle and small die-cuts in gold mirri rubbed over with sandpaper to give extra detail.

I have made three in total and they sit on my shelf above my work area and computer. I can easily make more and keep adding to them, well that's the idea anyway.

Project 2

Well this started out as one idea and now is another.... oh well artistic licence I suppose.
Yet another thing that I have been watching out there are the art journals and junk journals, so that was what I started out doing.

A while ago I found in a charity shop this ring bound A4 notebook, thinking it would make a good journal.

This is the back cover. In my eagerness to get started I forgot to take before photos, but I think you get the idea.

The cover has been created using the same technique as the drawers. I've been playing around with the Spellbinders flower dies and made several different types and sizes. I stamped one of the Tim Holtz sayings onto a die cut shape and grunged it to match the rest.

Now here is the change. I new once I had filled this book it would be very full, so I just needed to take out a few pages to make space, then I had the idea of cutting the pages down and using them to create the pages to another book. After taking out quite a few I just kept going and then another idea struck me, I could make this a free standing picture. I would do another design on the back but in landscape and when I wanted a change I would just turn it over.

I think I may be mad, but who cares I am having lots of fun and it's something I can work on inbetween other things. I will keep you posted just in case I come up with yet another idea for this project.

A White Christmas

Well that is what my Hubby keeps telling me. This is the theme of this weeks Alphabet Challenge - W for White Christmas.

To make this card I have used a couple of embossing dies and cutting dies. All the edges have been ink with the Milled Lavender Distress Ink just to help it pop a little bit more.

I was quite pleased with this effect and must remember to try this effect some more.

More Christmas Sparkle

For the last few months I think I have probably used the most glitter ever. The whole family and house has been covered and it can be a bit embarrassing when you have visitors and they take a little bit home with them (unknowingly), or you just sit there sparkling away at them while they are deep in conversation with you.

This was my last splash of glitter, I have hidden the pot away until next year.

I made this card for the Papertake Weekly Challenge themed, I'm Dreaming of a ( choose a colour) Christmas. So I chose Blue my most favourite colour ever. The background paper is from Crafters Companion, lovely icy snowflakes. I've used several Spellbinders dies to create the flowers and for the sentiment. I have been watching quite a lot of Sue Wilsons demos recently, so I'm starting to look at my die in a different light.

Yum! Yum! Yummy!

Sometimes we just need to give a little gift and this idea incorporates the card and gift together, it would be good for a teacher at the end of term.
I've printed the papers from Polka Doodles Sundae of Seasons CD Rom to make the easel card. For the stopper I made a box with an acetate lid. Box size 8 x 8cm and 2cm depth.

Decoration is simple with glitter on the christmas trees, 3 silver snowflakes with gem centres and a bit of faux- stitching around the edges. Then the fun bit. I filled the box with little jelly sweets in a cello bag.

I hope you try this out yourselves and let me know what you have come up with.

I can't help myself, I just love these little characters and they suit so many projects and papers, I just have to use them.

I made this card for the Papertake weekly challenge and this week it was a sketch, at first I wasn't sure of these types of challenges, but now I love them. I dug out some old papers from last years stash as I had already coloured my image. (hopefully they match okay). I was also tempted to put faux stitching all around the different layers, but walked away before I went mad with it.

Which is the title for this weeks Willow Designs Challenge. This week I decided to use up whatever I had left of my craft table at the time and put it all together. I usually try to have a clear up between projects, but just couldn't face it as I had so much stuff everywhere. Instead of sorting through my stash to find the right papers and image, I would just use what I had around me. I think I'll try this out again as I seemed to tidy as I went and managed to do two things at once and save time, wahoo!!

Something A Bit Different!

For months now we have been making christmas cards, talking about christmas, it's just been christmas, christmas, christmas, well it is so nice to do something different. We all need something bright and cheerful at this time of year when it is so dark and horrible outside. I like to start thinking about getting back out in the garden and soaking up the rays again, it keeps me going through this miserable depressing time. So here is something to brighten those dreary days!

All the papers used were from my stash. The fairy stamp is from Polka Doodles, I sparkled the wings, but it doesn't show on the photo unfortunately.

Italian Christmas

This card was for the Polka Doodles Challenge - Italian Chirstmas, using the colours of the Italian flag, red, green and white. The background papers were from the HOTP Forever Christmas paper pack containing traditional reds and greens, ideal for this project. I've used a Polka Doodles stamped image and coloured with ProMarkers then decorated with white leaves, silver snowflakes and gems to give a frosty feel.

This week I had some great news. I have been accepted on the design team at One Stop Craft Challenge. This is so exciting and I can't wait to get going with the challenges and working with all the other team members. This is a new experience for me so wish me luck and check out the challenge site.

For todays card I've used the Winnie/ Walter owl stamp and coloured with a selection of ProMarkers and FlexMarkers to tie-in with the background papers from My Minds Eye - Snowed In paper pack.

Behind the main matt and layered image I've decorated with a layer of silk ribbon and them red felt ribbon then a matt of matching red cardstock.

I had a go at making a concertina flower from my lace edged Spellbinder die, (which I know want to do lots more of) held together with a circle of red card and decorated with a silver button with a jewel in the centre.

My Brilliant Weekend!

I have had just the most fantastic weekend ever, with plenty of time to devote to my challenge cards.

There have been some great titles this week and have been able to put to good use my new toys from the NEC.

Suprisingly after such a marathon crafting session, I did actually tidy everything up and am all clear to start all the projects that I have waiting in the wings

Little Boy Blue

I am very pleased with how this card came out, especially the colouring of the boy in ProMarkers. You try and try these different techniques and they don't seem to work and then all of a sudden something goes right and you think to yourself, at last I'm getting there, it looks good. Even my husband thought it had been printed. So I am one happy bunny and will have to do another one to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Every thing has been printed from the Polka Doodles Pretty Tuff and mounted onto Kraft card.

Shaped Christmas Card

I must admit I don't think that I have ever made a shaped card like this before. They always seemed a bit fiddly and my cutting out is not that great, especially to cut two layers with the same pattern. Nikky has made it easy though with her designs, she really does think about us who are useless with scissors (it makes it alot quicker as well).

One thing that I did do and it's probably and old tip, but I sanded the edges and inked them, that seemed to cover any rough bits and I was more pleased with the finish of the card.

I used the Reindeer, holly and robin from the Sudae of Seasons CD from Polka Doodles, some backing paper from another of her CD's and a sentiment. He has got some sparkle to his antlers and the robins tail, but it doesn't really show up on the photo.

Well I think it is when it's a gift box as well.

This started out to be a simple cream box with an easel card on top, but I couldn't stop embellishing it more and more, I only stopped when I couldn't get anything else on it.

I made it to take my favourite choccies, so now I have somewhere to hide them away from everyone else in the house.

This is my little homage to Sue, although it is no way to her standard but great to have a go just the same.

Background papers and yummy puds and cakes are from the Polka Doodles Sundae of Seasons CD and I have glazed all the strawberries and chocolate sauce on the ice cream sundae.

U for Under the Sea

U should be for unique as these challenges always are, especially this week. I was really stumped. I look through all my stash and just could not find anything that would work for this theme.

I had to go to the internet and find an image or something that would suit and found this gorgeous little turtle digi stamp and for the life of me I can't remember where it was and didn't save it on the computer either.

This image was coloured in using good old ProMarkers and a white fine line gel pen. The background was made from die cuts, coloured and then a little bit of sparkle.

I have had great fun making this card. Nice to make a really girly card with ribbons and pearl and loads of pearls at that.

This is an A5 card using backing paper and little girl printed from the Pretty Sweet CD from Polka Doodles. I've used a range of different dies for this card including Spellbinders Lace and Marrianne Designs swirls and round border.

This Weeks Challenge Cards

With all that crafty stuff from the NEC I thought I would used as much as I could for this weeks blog challenges.

This card was made using the 6 x 6" frilly square card blank and covered with one of the papers from the Wild Blossom 12 x 12" designer paper pack, then stamped in black ink with a leaf stamp already in my stash.

Using the X-cut nesting shapes I cut out of white a matt and layered it with a contrasting pink paper from the same pack, then for the Polka Doodles Meeshelle stamp I cut her out using the Spellbinders labels die and coloured the image using ProMarkers and the fabby new fine nibs.

Extra pieces were used from dies already in my box and flowers cut out of scraps of the paper used in this design.

Now for my next card:

All the papers and the cute baby Rudolph are from the Polka Doodles Sundae of Seasons Cd-rom and they went so well with the stack of brown card I managed to get. I love the lace Spellbinders border die in this set and wanted to use it on this card, but the star is the Rudolph, he is so cute.

NEC November 2011

This was a great family day out with Me and Hubby, our Son and his Fiance and Hubbys' Mum. We usually go on a week day so a first for a Saturday and boy it was packed. We didn't have much time to stop and talk to people there, but I am glad that we got to meet Nikky from Polka Doodles and have a little chat.

Here are a few photos of my goodies.

First stop Polka Doodles and grabbing the items that I had not got so far.

Card stock was a must and managed to keep it to a minimum this year. At last I got the fine nibs for the ProMarkers and they are wonderful, they were the first thing I tried when I got back home.

Of coarse I needed more dies' you can never have enough of them, but the rest were not on my list, but can't refuse a bargain.

I took a punt on this little lot, its was all done up in a bag for five pounds. I was so surprised when I got home and there were two punches in the bag, one a large corner rounder which I had been looking for, for ages and then a EK Success corner punch. What a find.

I am a happy little bunny now and can't wait to go a try out the rest of my stash.

Here's what I came up with. It's quite plain but I adore this stamp, he is so very cute. He usually carries a bunch of flowers, I cut those away so that he could be catching falling stars.

It has been quite a while since I have entered some of these challenges, but now that things have settled down a bit here I can devoted more time to them. The mojo hasn't been working too well just lately so here goes with the first attempt:

I've used the Papertake Weekly Challenge of a sketch and applied it to two other challenges.
Raise The Bar - Sew What! and The Alphabet Challenge - T for Tea Time.

I've used papers from a christmas themed pad, but these were the two that coordinated the best with the chipboard shapes the best. All the pieces have been highlighted with brown ink and faux stitching.

Coffee Morning Wash-out

Well we did everything we could to get people to come in, but unfortunately only two people showed up apart from family. They did however like what we had done and were very impressed and would put the word around at their groups they attend, so hopefully better luck next time.

These things although disappointing are actually a great learning curve and you find out what to do next time or what not to do next time. We know how we would like to set up our products and we also found that we had more stock than we actually thought we had, Mums living room was rather small for it all.

We took lots of photo's but they didn't turn out awfully well, I manage to get a few that I could use to show you what we had available.

I designed this card for a recent challenge and wanted to try it out using different coloured mirri card. The silver for 25th Wedding Anniversary and the red for 40th.

Now for Lynns' talents:

She had a very impressive display of her knitted products that have taken her months to complete.

There was one good thing about the lack of people coming in..........

we had lots of cakes to eat. My sons girlfriend made these fantastic cupcakes they were really too good to share.

Well here's to the next one, this was a good practice run and we did have a lot of fun anyway.

Craft Sale and Coffee Morning

After so long me and my mother in law are actually going to have a craft sale at her house. I'm selling cards and gifts and she is selling her knitted toys etc. We have both been crafting away like mad these past few weeks to get enough stock together and enough different things to cover peoples different tastes.

We have been talking about it for so long now and we have finally bit the bullet so to speak. We set the date and put up posters around the village and family members who work in the local shop have been telling everyone what we are doing so everyone should know where to go and what to expect.

All that's left to do is to pack things up and have a last look to see if we need anything else and to get making the cupcakes to go with the coffee while they take time to browse all our wares. We are also taking orders for things so that we can give a personalised service to customers.

If this goes well then we will probably have more, we are really nervous about the outcome, but really excited as well. It's so nice to do things all together as a family and see how many different ideas we have between us.

So keep your fingers crossed that all goes well and I will put some photos on here of the day, good or bad.

Here are a few things that I have made over the last couple of weeks.

A box of six, C6 cards and envelopes with stamped decoupage images from Polka Doodles and two other misc stamps. The photo doesn't show it, but the card used for the box and card is a lovely hammered effect which I found went well for chrismas cards. The designs have been coloured using a mix of ProMarkers and Flexi Markers then glittered.

I have had these small notebooks for ever, I picked them up really cheap one day and thought I would decorate them, but I put them away and they haven't seen daylight since.

In one of my mags I saw this design of a japanese style girl, she was gorgeous and thought I would try to replicate this with my own twist and this is what she turned out like. The thing is if you are going to cater for the girls you have to be fair and cater for the boys too, so I came up with the little boy with his dungarees. They worked out to be just the right size for my mini notebooks, so on they went and now they are ready for the sale.

The only trouble with doing these I have now had more ideas and made bears also, I will add photos soon.

Here is the second card made from Nikkis' papers.

I've taken a section of an A4 design to make a square card and matted onto black then white card to tie in with the matching Noel topper. All the swirls have been glittered both on the backing paper and topper, then embellished with black and white spotty ribbon and bow.

Cold hands warm heart

This is one of two cards I made using the lovely papers by the guest designer Nikky Hall in this months making cards magazine. I love this cheeky little snowman and the colours are so scrummy.

Using lots of matting and layering and faux stitching again,( just don't seem to be able to stop myself) the papers really don't need a lot done to them to create a beautiful card.

Using handmade flowers

I've made this card for the Week 40 Polka Doodles Challenge - Handmade Flowers.

This time instead of using the large flowers we are all making at the moment, I thought it would be nice to use small flowers that I used to make a while back before we had the intricate dies we have now.

To make the flowers you will need a medium and small daisy punch. With the medium, punch out two daisies in pink and with the small one punch out two daisies in yellow. Glue the two pink daisies together so that it makes a filled in flower and do the same with the yellow daisy. Next you need to take a pair of tweezers and pinch each petal up with the tweezers pushing down in the middle, do this for all 16 petals and do like wise with the yellow flower which ,when glued to the pink flower will help make the centre. When each one is dry you can ink the edges and add a pearl to finish.

These flowers would also look nice as the centres of some of our larger blooms or great as a more delicate touch.

All I want for christmas is U card created using papers from the HOTP Forever Christmas Cards Paper Stack and the downloaded image of Walter the owl.

The matts and layers have been stitched together and inked with brushed corduroy. Walter has been decoupaged with one layer and had the white fluffy bits on his hat glittered. I have embellished with three snowflakes that have been glittered and a gem in the centre. The 'U' is a wooden letter coloured with promarker and sprayed with cosmic shimmer.

This weeks Polka Doodles challenge was called Whiteout. I really love the effect of just using white and one accent colour on a card and this theme really lends itself to a lovely snowy scene and snowmen, but after doing so many cards like this I wanted to try something different.

I think this makes a lovely, elegant 25th wedding anniversary card and I'm going to try this for ruby and gold anniversaries also.

Even though the papers were from a Christmas collection the two that I used went so well with the colours in the Spice Big and Juicy pad and the Cosmic Shimmer lifts the leaves and the bird from the background as there are a lot of rust colours. Hopefully this has given the card that real rich and warm feeling you get in Autumn of sitting snuggled up next to a roaring log fire.... ahhhh....

This weeks challenge at Polka Doodles was to create a card with a single layer. I have, of course used my ProMarkers and FlexMarkers to colour in. The stamps are a selection, the house, tree, fence, grass and bushes were from Nikkys' Be Neighbourly set. The Archway is from my own set of stamps that I have designed.

House and girl have been coloured using Promarkers, also the red ribbon, red matt for the backing paper and the sentiment have been coloured with promarkers to match.

Extra pieces have been cut out of white card and glittered with stickles for the snow on the roof, chimney and tree outside the house. The girls scarf and boot tops have also been glittered.

Patchwork Cards

Experimenting with new products is so much fun and these two cards are what I came up with while playing with my new Spellbinders flower dies and new paper rough edger thingamyjig tool.

I love the colours in this set of papers from Pink Petticoat - Wild Blossoms Collection and matched ProMarkers to colour the Happy Birthday sentiment. Everything has been distressed within an inch of its life with a Tim Holtz ink pad which really shows up the rough edges.

Embossing the leaves and faux stitching around the four squares of paper give these card a little bit of a patchwork feel to them.

On The Move

I made this card for my Sister-in-law and niece for their long awaited move to their new home.
The houses were stamped onto patterned paper, cut out and decoupaged in a terrace and highlighted with ProMarkers and white pen. Design papers and stamps from Polka Doodles.

A little gift for my little niece. I made a wallet using 6 envelopes to make an accordian style wallet and decorated with Tatty Teddy papers. Inside each pocket there is a matching card and envelope. Hopefully she will have lots of fun sending these to her new friends in her new school.
My sister-in-law is a very busy mum, so for a gift I made her six cards and envelopes in a matching box, just in case she needs a card in a hurry.

I hope they have many happy years in there new home.

Here I've used Winnie the Owl papers from Polka Doodles and embellished with die-cut flowers and leaves from Spellbinders, coloured with Promarkers. The photo doesn't show up very well but the flowers have been glittered and I've used white glitter brads for the centers of the flowers.

Fathers Day

These Fathers Day cards were made using the papers from the Making Cards magazine.

Using ribbon on a male card can be a bit tricky so I opted for good old parcel string instead, thought it also went quite well with the jungle theme and if you wanted to change the colour it's quite easy with ProMarkers.
This was the first time that I dared use my own hand-writing on the front of a card. I wrote on small strips of card so it wasn't so daunting writing it all out at once, cut them into ribbons and inked round the edges. I think it really worked with the papers from Polka Doodles, and to my surprise everyone liked it and said that I should do more like that. So what do I know, hey...

Die Cutting

I have gone die-cutting mad and my favourites are the spiral flower dies, I just can't stop making them. They are brilliant to use up all the scraps you have and I have a lot, no piece is too small to keep.

I absolutely love this colourway of the chocolate and mint, reminds me of ice-cream... yumm!...yumm!

Some of the roses look extra special when you add a little bit of glitter glue or glossy accents to the edges to give the impression of dew drops in the early morning.

Sorry I haven't posted for such a long time but I have been busy designing some of my own things. The Archway Stamps and also some new CDs which will be ready for release soon.

I have also been making lots of cards for other occassions and have been trying out a lot of new ideas. One of the jobs that I have been meaning to get around to is sorting out all my photos to try and scrapbook them. What a task that is. To make this less daunting I started by doing just a small book first.

I used the NitWits baby papers and smiley face photos of my son. This now stands pride of place on the bookcase in my living room, much to my sons disgrace as he is now 20, but he will always be my baby.

So Excited!

At long last I have done it! This has been a dream of mine for a long time - to have my very own stamps produced.

This has been a real family affair with my Dad doing the drawings, my husband setting them out on the computer the way I wanted them and me generally bossing everyone around.

I am so pleased with them. Thanks go to Dimension Fourth Ltd for such a great job. After only having a little play with them I am having more and more ideas for these designs.

I just can't leave these stamps alone. There are so many ways to use them. This time I have used the big and juicy pads to colour using foam to apply the background then using the ink as water colour fro the detail, finishing with the white pen for the high-lights on the faux-brads and butterflies.

My Valentine

I have been going heart crazy this week. Luckily enough I did manage to make and send my Valentine a card 'fhew'.

This card combines different types of embossing. The Cuttlebug and ornate folder were used for the background on metallic blue card. For the heart I used the Glitter Girls Celebration board to dry emboss the hearts, then decoupaged and decorated them with glitter, gems and a bow.

For a change a scrapbook page. This photo was taken a while ago now, but a lovely memory to keep.

I think this card could be used for Birthday or Wedding Anniversary. Found some vintage papers in my stash and thought they would go well with a bit of distressing, (I do enjoy getting all inky). Flowers and leaves were made out of the matching papers in the set and thought that a little bit of gold would just lift the colours in the papers and give a bit of luxury.

All Heart!

I feel a bit more organised this week, whether I am or not is another matter, but anyway have been more productive so far.

With Valentines Day looming and love in the air I have made a few cards with hearts. I thought I would combine this theme with a double easel card that I've been itching to have a go at, this is my first attempt and am quite pleased with it. The hearts from the Glitter Girls celebration board are my faves, so to is my butterfly punch. The background paper used is from the Papermania wedding scrapbook pack. Looking forward to making lots of these style cards in the future.

What a couple of weeks

What with family events, coughs and colds and generally feeling miserable and sorry for myself I have finally done something a little bit creative. It has been so frustrating wanting to do different things, but just not having the energy to do it. Hopefully now it is full steam ahead and plenty of projects finished.

This card I've entered into the Polka Doodles Challenge - Party Time and I've used the Paper Boutique vol 3 cd.

I love the colour of the parcels and printed them out in two different sizes and decoupaged them. Unfortunately the picture doesn't show that I've also glittered the polka dots. There are plenty of sentiments on the cd and I chose the Happy Birthday and decorated with a flower made from a spare piece of matching card from the parcels and sparkled the centre. I finally finshed with faux stitching round the outside of the card (I am finding this very difficult not to do on all my cards now).

Now to crack on with everything else that needs to be done.

I love this stamp from LeLo Designs drawn by Nancy Hain. Looks like he has found a quiet corner of the garden to think and also found a little friend to talk to.

Coloured in using Promarkers and matching backing papers, couldn't put a bow on a little boys card so opted for some blue paper string and a red brad to go with the papers and his top and trouser.

I've been wanting to use this paper from LLB for a long time but couldn't match it up with anything, when I got this little girl stamp I could just see her sat under the pink flowers having a quiet little conversation with her best friend. A Wish For The New Year

Finally I am back to it. The last couple of weeks I have sorted and re-organised my craft area, hopefully to make things a bit more efficient and perhaps easier to tidy-up when I've finished a good messy session.

My first blog challenge of the year is for Polka Doodles and what a very apt title. A Wish For The New Year. My wish is happiness and I hope that all of you can squeeze out as much as you can in 2011.

My plans for this year are to use as much of my bits and pieces and scraps as I can and try as many new techniques as possible.

These two penguins are from the Daisy and Dandylion CD. I've used the snowflake backing paper from the same CD, one pink and one blue. The toppers are mounted onto silver mirri board and decorated with a snowflake punch with a gem in the middle to match the backing paper.

Sassy Christmas

A stepper card seemed to me to be obvious choice for this topper and the Art Deco Ladies from Nancy Watt Designs. The lady herself seems quite sassy indeed. I've used clear glitter glue to sparkle up her hat and also on the sentiment.

Santa's on the Roof!

For this card I've used Nancy Watt design paper and topper of Santa with his reindeer on the roof, decorated with a strip of gold card and tied a bow with dark green ribbon down the side. For the topper I matted onto matching gold card and using gold glitter glue decorated with dots around the scalloped edge. To finish I used clear glitter glue to emphasize the snow on the roof.

Christmas Cutie

This little girl is adorable, I've used Promarkers to colour her and clear glitter glue for the fur pieces on her coat, hat and boots kept the colour to traditional red and green for the whole theme of the card.

This pillow box is ideal to send a small thank you gift. I only used one 12x12 scrapbook sheet to cut out the template for the box, butterfly and scalloped circle. The message is a rub-on and I've punched an extra butterfly out of white card and glued in the centre, lifted the pink wings up and it gives it a little bit more dimension.

I've entered this card into the Papertake Weekly Challenge entitled 'Red and Green Must Not Be Seen'. I've coloured the image in Promarkers, one of the things I like to do is colour the edge of a white mat layer to compliment the colours in the picture, it really ties everything in together.

Polka Doodles Week 48 Challenge

This challenge was titled All About The Sentiment. I've used some festive papers from a magazine I had and chose the sentment that I liked most. All the edges have been distressed using a pair of scissors and inked. I didn't have the right coloured red card so I matched my promarkers to the nearest and coloured the edges of some white card.

Give Thanks

For this project I have covered my base card with brown parcel paper and distressed with brown inks. Using the same inks stamped swirls. To make the flowers I've used a flower template on the same brown paper, stamped with a script stamp, distressed and added a button with a piece of string tied in the middle. To add to the decoration I die-cut some swirls and inked. To add a little sparkle I've added gold glitter glue to the flowers, buttons, swirls and letters.

I have entered this card into the Polka Doodles, Week 46 Challenge - Give Thanks. This made me think a little bit and realised that I need to give thanks to all the people in my life, especially my Husband and my Son, who stand by me and support me no matter what. Also the give thanks that I have survived another year and especially this year has it has been so difficult for us. So I hope you enjoy this card and that it may give you a little inspiration.

I have entered this card into the Pear Tree Designs Weekly Challenge 27 - Colourful.
Strong and vibrant colours were used for this card. Several different techniques were also used to create this card, stamping, colouring with Promarker and distressing with inks. The stamped topper, I used masking methods to sit the cat on the mound and then the grasses by the side.

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Autumn Skies

To create this card I have tried a new technique for me. I have had a brayer for months, but never tried it until now and used it for the background and taking the challenge literally. Using two different sets of stamps from Inkylicious (trees and seaside) I stamped an autumnal horizon scene. At the moment I am distressing all my background papers and sometimes faux stitching for the matting and layering.

Polka Doodles Challenge Week 45 - Box

This weeks challenge was to make a box. I found a old book of box templates I had bought years ago, (sometimes it's good to have a sort out).

I chose a half pyramid shape, but thought it needed a little something on the top, so as easel cards are all the rage at the moment I made a mini one and decorated it with a little owl and flowers. Now I have a card and gift box in one. There was nowhere to put the "Thanks" sentiment so out came the kebab sticks.

This may be a small box but it is cute and as they say "great things come in small packages".

Week 44 Challenge - Quick and Easy Christmas Card

This card took no time at all to make and would be easy to produce in quantity. I have used a piece of stripped backing paper and a Warmest Winter Wishes sentiment. Then mounted the pre-coloured character onto a polka dot embossed oval and inked around the edges and over the polka dots in blue to make them pop.

I've finally managed to set up a blog. Hopefully now I will be able to share with you some of my projects that I will be doing in the future. This is one of the cards I did a while ago. Just trying things out to see if I can actually upload photos.
